When properly used, attic exhaust fans can help reduce your energy costs; But NOT if you have central air conditioning. Central exhaust fans remove the hot air from the attic and suck up the expensively cooled air from your entire house, then blow it right outside. So if you have central air, say no to attic exhaust fans.
