TOM: Did last winter’s heating bills send you through the roof? Why not improve attic insulation right now and you’ll cut costs all year long? Hi. I’m Tom Kraeutler.
LESLIE: And I’m Leslie Segrete with today’s Money Pit Home Improvement Minute.
TOM: Just like your body loses heat through its topmost point, your head, your home loses heat through the attic. Improving attic insulation now will keep warmth indoors and your heating bills low once winter arrives.
LESLIE: The more attic insulation you have, the better its ability to prevent heated air from escaping. Most homes need at least 19 inches of batt insulation or 22 inches of blown insulation.
TOM: For new homes or additions, consider spray foam insulation, as it builds seals and insulates in a single step.
