LESLIE: We’re going over to the east coast in Connecticut, where Lisa’s got a problem with the toilet. Hopefully we can help. Tell us what’s going on.
LISA: What happened was we bought a house that had been sitting around for a while. The builder had renovated it to be able to put it on the market.. So it’s a toilet that hadn’t been flushed for a while. And I think where the water comes in to the toilet may have been leaking a little bit in and leaving three green streak marks.
LESLIE: On the bowl itself. On the inside.
LISA: This is inside the bowl of the toilet. Tried using bleach products to – with a toilet cleaner …
LESLIE: Bleach is actually really bad for the toilets.
TOM: Yeah, because it affects all of the valves. It makes them leak and crack and stuff like that. Have you tried a product called CLR?
LESLIE: Calcium, lime, rust?
LISA: No, I never heard of it.
TOM: Aw, it’s been around forever.
LESLIE: It’s great especially if you get like a lime buildup around your showerhead. You can fill a dish with it and just soak it right up into your showerhead and that showerhead will operate like new. It stands for calcium, lime and rust.
TOM: Yeah, it takes all these bad things that cause the stains in the porcelain fixtures out. It’s really good stuff. You ought to give that a shot. That’ll work.
OK, Lisa? Thanks so much for calling us at 1-888-MONEY-PIT.
