Hello, I have an open floor plan home. When you walk in you can see the large formal living room, the small dining and the breakfast nook. We don’t use the living room much and i would like to place a computer in it. How could I do this tastefully?
Our Answer
Open plan housing can cause some decorating dilemmas, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t create beautiful multiple functional spaces that will work for your family. Since this is your formal living room you want to make sure that you house your computer in a place where at the end of the day or at the beckon of your kids you are able to close off you work and hide your mess. Many manufacturers make a wonderful desk that is concealed in an armoir style cabinet. You open the doors to find a work space that extended to create a true desk and plenty of storage for your supplies and computer components. You can find them at a variety of price points and designs to suite everyones tastes. Try Ballard Designs, Pottery Barn, and William Sonoma Home they all carry at least one option to start your search. At least with your computer in the room your formal living room will finally have some non holiday time visitors.
