TOM: For starters, why not swap out a standard doorbell for cover for an engraved or hammered metal cover that can add some bling to your ding?
LESLIE: Or why not give your guests a chuckle before they even step inside? You know there are all kinds of ideas online for witty DIY doorbell covers, including one made of the enter key from the computer keyboard.
TOM: And consider bringing up the customization indoors too. Some wireless doorbells come with unique sounds and chimes in place of the traditional bell, whether you use songs or voice recordings to announce someone’s arrival, similar to custom ring tones on your phone.
LESLIE: Or why not add safety and flare with a doorbell that’s back-lit with an LED light? They’re available in several colors and they’re going to add a modern touch to a household staple. I’m Leslie Segrete.
