Does the liquid paint-on insulation Nansulate work, or is it just a gimmick?
Our Answer
I’m not familiar with the product you mention, but I know this much: If your goal is to improve your home’s efficiency, improving or even insulating your walls is not the place to start. Start in the attic, the place where the bulk of heat loss occurs. Make sure you have at least 15-20 inches of fiberglass insulaton in your attic, and consider adding Icynene spray foam insulation, too. I supplemented my existing insulation with Icynene two winters back, and already the difference in my utility bills has paid for the cost of the job!
