TOM: Depending on the mounting location and the pet, the material may vary. For dogs that like to chew, a bite-proof door is a must.
LESLIE: You also want to make sure the door is weatherproof so drafts and rain are kept out. And when you’re installing, be sure to use flashing and caulk to reseal the opening that you make in your wall or your door.
