TOM: Beyond paper, plastic, and metal, most homes forget to recycle these five popular items. First, compact fluorescent bulbs are better off recycled than trashed, so deliver worn-out bulbs to a home improvement center instead of tossing them in the garbage.
LESLIE: Alkaline batteries leak toxic chemicals when they’re dumped in landfills. Be kind to the environment by taking them to a designated collection center for safe disposal.
TOM: Printer ink cartridges should also be recycled. Return these to an office supply store and you could get credits for future purchases. Pesky packing peanuts can also be repurposed at most mailing service centers.
