I was told by a friend of mine that there is an “electrical device” that you can install at your main electrical panel that some how regulates/reduces the amount of electrical usage needed for your home. The cost is somewhere around #350-500/device. Supposedly you will realize a savings of 30% or more in your monthly electrical bill. Does such a device exist, and if yes, does it really work? Thank you. Lou Barth State College, PA
Our Answer
Lou, the device you describe makes no sense to me whatsoever. However, there has been huge progress in the development of “Smart Meters” and other similar devices that measure how much electricity you use and empower you to make choices that will reduce consumption. IN fact, even Google has developed a power monitoring product called the Google PowerMeter that is gaining in popularity.
