LESLIE: And I’m Leslie Segrete with today’s Money Pit Home Improvement Minute.
TOM: Don’t wait until the power goes out to think about what you’d need in a storm emergency. Now’s the time to build a kit with the supplies necessary to get you through.
LESLIE: Pack a waterproof air-tight container with warm blankets, a flashlight, a portable radio, extra batteries, candles and matches. Add canned goods and other packaged foods that won’t spoil, a can opener, utensils and enough water for three days.
TOM: Next, pack a first-aid kit and any essential items your family might need, like diapers along with a few books or games to keep the kids happy.
LESLIE: Finally, prepare an old fashioned printed-out list of emergency contacts to make sure that you’ll be able to stay in touch, even when energy-hungry computers can’t. I’m Leslie Segrete.
