TOM: As summer turns into fall, you may be tempted to kick back and relax when it comes to your home-maintenance chores. But now is not the time to slack off. Hi, I’m Tom Kraeutler.

TOM: First off, if you’re tempted to skip raking leaves, don’t. A layer of leaves deprives your lawn of crucial sunlight during autumn months. And if left to collect, leaves can get wet, leading to mold and attracting pests.
LESLIE: And you might think about skipping gutter cleaning this year too; big mistake. Clogged gutters and down spouts will cause water to collect near your homes foundation and could lead to a wet basement.
TOM: And if you see green or black algae or moss building up on siding, driveways and walks, now’s the time to clean it up. Ignoring it will lead to even more clean up later and in the meantime, your home’s exterior will look dirty and grimy. I’m Tom Kraeutler.
