TOM: It may not look like it, but there’s a lot going on with your lawn during cold weather months. Its root system strengthens and new turf is in development.
LESLIE: You’ll like what you see next spring if you give your lawn attention right now. Start by reseeding the bare spots, then apply a winterizing fertilizer to encourage lawn development.
TOM: Weeds you see today leave seeds that will germinate and multiply once your lawn grows back in the spring. So apply a weed-control agent to prevent that kind of greenery from taking hold.
LESLIE: And if you’ve noticed your lawn has been bugged by bugs, address those pests right now as well. Killing grubs, for example, can prevents moles from building a superhighway of tunnels that can quickly ruin a lawn. I’m Leslie Segrete.
