TOM: A flat-screen TV gives great views of touching moments and touchdowns but sometimes includes a less appealing sight: Dangling cords and wires. Hi, I’m Tom Kraeutler.
LESLIE: And I’m Leslie Segrete with today’s Money Pit Home Improvement Minute.
TOM: Wires hanging from flat-screen TVs can be unsightly and unsafe. Running cables through a hollow wall is generally the solution of choice, but it’s not in the cards for renters or for TVs mounted on solid surfaces.
LESLIE: Yeah, this is where cord management systems come in. They’re covers that are designed specifically for the job and they can be painted to blend in with your wall color. A variation on these are door thresholds also designed to protect your cables and keep them out of eyesight when they need to extend across doorways.
TOM: And whatever your solution, try to avoid running the power cord and audiovisual wires too closely together. Power cord electricity can cause picture interference, and that just won’t do. I’m Tom Kraeutler. For more Money Pit home improvement tips, visit moneypit.com.
