LESLIE: And I’m Leslie Segrete with today’s Money Pit Home Improvement Minute.
TOM: Don’t let your holiday activity compromise your home security. Be cautious about displaying expensive decorations and gifts, because if something can be seen from the street it could end up on a burglar’s wish list.
LESLIE: Don’t advertise what Santa brought by dumping empty boxes on the curb. Instead, break down those boxes and stow them in large garbage bins or take those boxes directly to the recycling center.
TOM: If you’re going to be away from home, ask a neighbor to help you keep up appearances. Mail and newspaper should be picked up daily and the walk and driveway should be shoveled after every snowfall.
LESLIE: Finally, be sure the exterior of your home is well lit and create the illusion of activity by installing timer switches on key lighting throughout the house. I’m Leslie Segrete.
