Hi, Tom and Leslie! My question: How can I get nice clean paint lines when repainting?
Our Answer
Ah, the ever elusive clean paint line!
It’s possible to achieve this with the right tools and materials. Let’s say you’re painting a room’s corner. You want to paint the corner first, overlapping edges slightly, and then apply painters tape to the recently painted edge. Next, apply the second color right up to, and slightly over, the painters tape. Once the paint dries, remove the tape and you should have a clean line.
Unlike in years past, high-quality tape today features an absorbent compound that sucks up any paint that threatens to get beneath it and ruin your efforts. So don’t skimp here – buy quality painters tape! It’s key to those crisp lines you’re after.
