LESLIE: Coming up, we have a call from Rosemarie in Florida who has a sprinkler issue.
Rosemarie, how can we help you?
ROSEMARIE: I have a patio, 8×14, outside and it’s painted and I would like to redo it. And the problem is I have a sprinkler head which just wets about a foot of the floor.
TOM: That’s right. Water and paint don’t mix. Why can’t you just adjust the sprinkler head? All sprinkler heads are adjustable.
ROSEMARIE: That’s my problem. I live in a townhome …
TOM: OK.
ROSEMARIE: … and they’ve tried a couple of times and I’ve never been around …
TOM: Every sprinkler head is adjustable and you’re just going to have to communicate better with these contractors and let them know exactly what you expect. Put a big sign up: “Don’t let the water hit my patio.” Because that’s the only way you’re going to do this. It’s going to beat the bucket solution, OK Rosemarie?
ROSEMARIE: Last week when I listened, you talked about Behr concrete floor paint …
TOM: Yes.
ROSEMARIE: … and then epoxy concrete paint. But I didn’t get the name of the company.
TOM: I think we were talking about probably EPOXYShield. Rust-Oleum makes a product called EPOXYShield and they actually make a version of that for sidewalks and patios. You should be able to find that in your local Home Depot.
ROSEMARIE: OK. I appreciate.
TOM: You’re welcome. Thanks so much for calling us at 1-888-MONEY-PIT.
