I have a corrugated steel roof that was damaged in a hail storm. The seams came apart in places. I was wondering if I should replace the roof with something else or can the seams be fixed?
Our Answer
Betty, first we’d ask that you contact your insurance company. Hail damage is often covered in a homeowners policy. If your insurance company agrees, replace the roof – it’s better to do so on their dime than yours.
If you end up having to pay for the repair yourself, you should disassemble the impacted sections of the roof and then reseal the seams with an appropriate material such as asphalt roof cement.
