I’m installing James Hardie siding around a bay window roof. This window and roof were just recently installed. I don’t see a drip edge or flashing around the side of the roof. There is a strip of approximately 5-6″ aluminum flashing at the top of the roof, but the installation is not completed.
Question 1: Do I need to continue with the flashing down the sides of the roof?
If so, what is the proper way to install and then add the siding, so as to avoid water going behind the siding?
As you can see from the picture, I stopped putting up the siding and did not nail it.
The shingles rest on top of the window frame/fascia, not hanging over like the other window just a few feet away.
Question 2: What type of drip edge do I need to install so that the water will not shoot back up under the shingles?
The other window does not have a drip edge either. Although it was installed years ago, the prep work for the siding was added just recently.
As you can see from the images, what I refer to as the fascia, is only an inch. I do not know the correct term for that.
Please help.
