LESLIE: Frank in Delaware listens on WDEL. What can we do for you today?
FRANK: Yeah, my question was on the fiberglass drywall. I – I’m a professional wallpaper hanger, so when I – something new comes out, I like to get input on it. And I just wanted to know if it’s OK to hang wallpaper on it. Is there any special primer you’ve got to use or should we – should I use an oil-base or acrylic?
TOM: Not that we’re aware of, Frank. You’re talking about the Dens Armor Plus by Georgia-Pacific, which is – has a fiberglass surface, as opposed to …
LESLIE: A paper surface.
TOM: And that product is just as good as regular drywall for painting and wallpapering. So I don’t think that you need to do anything special to it.
Are you in the habit of putting sizing on the wall, Frank, when you’re starting a new wallpaper job?
FRANK: Oh yeah, for the last 23 years; every job. (chuckling)
TOM: Then I would do it exactly the same way. That’s going to give you the surface that you need to make sure that your – that your glue sticks on the paper. But it’s a smart thing to do because, this way, there’s going to be no paper sandwiched under that wallpaper.
FRANK: Well, that’s great. I appreciate the information. I just – you know, like I said, I like to research things and I heard it on your show – the advertisement for it – so I wanted to find out about it before I came across it.
LESLIE: It’s a great product and it finishes in the exact same way. So enjoy it.
FRANK: OK, I will. Thank you very much.
TOM: Thanks so much for calling us at 888-MONEY-PIT.
