TOM: After the long winter break it’s time to revive your landscaping skills and your landscaping tools. Hi, I’m Tom Kraeutler.
LESLIE: And I’m Leslie Segrete with today’s Money Pit Home Improvement Minute.
TOM: Before it starts a new season of service, take time to tune up your lawnmower. Drain and replace the oil, replace the sparkplug and the air filter, and sharpen the mower blades.
LESLIE: Also replace the fuel filter. If your mower has one it’s going to be located on the fuel line between the tank and the carburetor.
TOM: Hand tools and shovels need preseason care, too. Remove rust with steel wool or sandpaper, file the edges to sharpen, and coat metal surfaces with lubricating oil to keep rust away.
LESLIE: For a nice smooth grip just sand wooden tool handles and then coat with linseed oil to keep the wood in good shape. I’m Leslie Segrete.
