Natural Bug Remedies
TOM: Are pesky bugs ruining your summer fun, but you’d prefer to avoid pesticides? Then why not consider natural bug remedies? Hi, I’m Tom Kraeutler.

TOM: This summer, try a few natural methods for banishing bugs to keep your home pest-free. To repel ants, plant a barrier of mint around your home’s foundation. Bay leaves are another option. They’ll repel ants, and can be placed by food canisters or sprinkled along windowsills.
LESLIE: For disease-carrying mosquitoes, consider lemongrass. Lemongrass contains citronella, and growing it, or even basil, around your deck or patio, will create a mosquito-free zone.
TOM: To control crickets, bypass bug sprays and make your own sticky traps with duct tape. Just set out long strips of tape, sticky-side up, and change the tape as needed.
LESLIE: And if drain flies are gathering on the gunky slime in your home’s drains, pour a teaspoon of bleach down that drain and then block the opening for an hour to flush those flies away. I’m Leslie Segrete.
