I use Behr deck stain on my deck, but it wears off quickly. What can I use instead? My deck is made of pressurized wood and is very large, and I'm tired of doing it. I live in Alaska, so we have a short summer and I don't want to spend it staining my deck every year!
Our Answer
I’m sorry you've had a bad experience with this particular product. My experience has been that if you strip off old stain and prime a pressurized wood deck using oil- based primer, you should be able to apply a solid color deck stain on top and get 5 to 8 years of life out of the job. Oil-based primer is essentially the glue that makes the stain stick. I used Sherwin-Williams on my last job, and it worked wonderfully.
