Rot develops when wood becomes too wet. To prevent rot from entering your home, watch out for roof leaks and overflowing gutters and make sure lawn sprinklers point away from your home. Also, keep shrubs and bushes trimmed back away from the house and avoid earth-to-wood contact around decks and fencing to keep your home safe from rot. Your home’s exterior and even your landscaping can invite rot inside your home. Keep the water away and your stop rot from entering your home.
