TOM: Ticks and the Lyme disease they carry are major threats to health. So be smart about protecting yourself and your family whenever you’re outdoors.
LESLIE: Always wear long sleeves, tuck your pant cuffs into boots or socks and choose light colors which will make it easy to spot the ticks. Then layer on insect repellant that’s designed to be applied to both skin and clothing.
TOM: While you’re outdoors, stay in the center of hiking paths and avoid grassy and marshy areas. Ticks don’t jump. Instead they hang onto shrubs and tall grass just waiting for you to brush by.
LESLIE: Once you’re back home, practice tick control by inspect yourself and your kids for clinging ticks before the bites happen. I’m Leslie Segrete.
