Taylor: The Zuli Smart Plug is a Bluetooth Little Energy Smart Plug, you plug it in, connect any light or appliance, control it directly from your Smartphone. It gives you on/off control of appliances, dimming of lights, power consumption, set schedules directly from the Smartphone app. When you have three Zuli Smart Plugs, they create a Bluetooth mesh network that not only extends the range in your home, but works similar to an indoor GPS. It can essentially detect what room you’re in, who you are, what your preferences are, and start to adapt the home automatically and passively in the background simply by having your phone in your pocket.
The experience we want to create is one you don’t have to walk in, take out your phone and manually turn on and adjust devices, but the home automatically detects you. It dims on the lights, it adjusts your heater or your music, whatever you want to customize. Just today we launched a partnership with Nest Thermostat with the [inaudible 00:01:04] works with Nest program and as well as with Logitech Harmony about a month and a half ago. Now that presences feature can interact with your other Smart Home products. For example, for the Nest, it not only accurately knows if you’re home or if you’re not home with the Zuli Smart Plug, but it also knows whose home and what their preferences are.
So, if you walk in versus your wife, you could have different temperature settings that the Nest would automatically adjust to you passively without ever taking your phone out of your pocket.
Tom: What happens if you and your wife walk into the room at the same time?
Taylor: Right now, it’s based off a priority system, so the first person that comes into the room, it detects it, adjusts to their settings. If a second person walks in, it knows they’re there, but it does not adjust the settings to their preferences until the first person it’s detected has left the room.
Tom: You’d better make sure you tell your wife what’s going on.
Taylor: I don’t have a wife yet. I don’t have to deal with that yet.
Tom: Thank you Taylor.
